“The Visionaries”

Those who refuse to have borders are those whose work truly  intervenes with, and shapes, history. The Impressionist painters revolutionised art, not only with their way of painting, but also with their technical background. They refused any restrictions on subject matter, sharpness of lines and colours and captured movement with light, even with small wavy brushstrokes. This is the dreaminess of a bygone, but always timeless era that combines romanticism, lyricism and unconventionality.

Although particular characters, Impressionist artists were highly social and very often participated in political circles.

What would transnational diplomacy look like if it included institutional dialogue between representatives of artistic movements?

Would it have been possible to avoid war if visionary creators, such as the impressionist painters and musicians of the early 20th century, had been in the place of the political opponents?

The exhibition of visual arts and archive photography organised in the framework of the “Little Paris of Athens 2024” entitled “Visionaries” includes archive photographs of artists (painters, musicians, etc. ) and politicians of the Belle Époque and the interwar period, works by great Impressionist painters juxtaposed with works by our visual artists, who are participating through an open invitation of the festival, as well as the “public dialogue” on “Impressionism and diplomacy”.

Street art – murals

From 2013 until today, the “Little Paris of Athens” festival has brought to the city major works of street painting by important Greek and foreign artists, enriching our public cultural heritage.

In 2024 the festival, true to its principles and objectives, will again host important artists for the creation of new public murals.

Communicating and thinking “outside the box”

51st Primary School of Athens, 40 Akominatou Street, Metaxourgeio

How do words “touch” and “awaken” us?  How do they make others listen to us, follow us, want to exchange ideas and feelings with us? Through word and thinking games we learn some of the secrets of communication and strengthen our relationships within the group.

With Valia Loutrianaki, philologist, president of the Rhetoric Association, and the “Sirius” Research Pedagogical Group.

The petals of peace

51st Primary School of Athens, 40 Akominatou, Metaxourgeio

A musical puppet show and an origami workshop invite children to get to know the beautiful world of “Little Lotus” and to become aware of the actions and attitudes that are carriers of kindness, compassion and gentleness. The telling of the story of “Little Lotus Journey” is followed by the origami workshop, where young and old will have the opportunity to make their own flower using this traditional Japanese paper-folding technique.

Curated by the Petals of Peace group.

* The educational programmes are offered to primary schools in the region by the festival and have no financial burden for the students.
